Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell yesterday unveiled the city's solution to long lines at the Pearlridge satellite city hall. He calls it "AlohaQ." It's a virtual line. You just pull a number, watch a screen and wait for your time, instead of standing in line. You can also leave your phone number, and receive a text when it's your turn. Eventually, the city wants to expand "AlohaQ" to all Satellite City hall locations, then apply the concept for other busy city services, such as Planning and Permitting.
