Feds Investigate Cause of Molokai Plane Crash

The owner of Makani Kai Air was visibly shaken this morning when he was interviewed live on local morning television news shows.  Owner Richard Schuman said the pilot of yesterday's plane crash told him the plane ceashed off Molokai because of catastrophic engine failure. State health director Loretta Fuddy was killed in the crash. Eight other people survived.  Schuman said the pilot did the best he could to get the small plane down safetly and keep the passengers together in the ocean until they could be rescued by the Coast Guard.  Schuman said officials know what happened, but not why.  The 62-year-old Fuddy is being remembered as a good lady and genuine person by those who knew and worked with her.  Federal officials have opened an investigation into the cause of the plane crash.
