Hawaii Health Connector Head Apologizes for Problems

The Executive Director of the Hawaii Health Connector yesterday apologized for the software problems that continue to exist on the website where consumers were supposed to be able to compare policies, get rates and enroll in President  Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act.  Coral Andrews also promised to get medical plans and prices on the state’s health insurance exchange by Tuesday, two weeks after the October 1 scheduled start of open enrollment. The Connector website, which received 30,000 visitors in the first week, does not mention that consumers cannot find prices or enroll in policies because of the software problems. Representative Angus McKelvey, chairman of the Committee on Consumer Protection & Commerce, said there should have been a disclaimer on the website alerting consumers it's under construction.  Andrews agreed with that point.
