HCC All-Clear After Alert About Possible Gunman Near Campus

For a brief time Tuesday, Honolulu Community College was put on alert when a man possibly carrying a rifle was seen on Dillingham Boulevard. The school transmitted an alert just after 10:30 a.m., after police received a report of a possible gunman a few minutes before. The all-clear was sent out at about 11 a.m.  That alert said police checked the area and found no sign of a gunman. There was no indication that the suspect had entered the college campus.  The security alert went out  on the same day that the University of Hawaii said it would conduct a test of its emergency notification system. That test was scheduled to happen at 10 a.m.  But the UH and HCC alerts that went out at about 10:30 a.m. started by saying, "This is not a test."
