Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on East Oahu

A 52-year-old Kapolei man was killed when his motorcycle crashed into another vehicle on Kalanianaole Highway near Halona Blow Hole just before 6:30 last night.  Police say speed was a possible factor. The motorcyclist was going eastbound near the Blow Hole when he lost control of the bike and sideswiped a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction and crashed.  The motorcyclist was taken to a trauma center in critical condition, and he died there later.  The 32-year-old woman from Waimanalo, driving the car that was sideswiped, was not injured.   The road was closed in both directions between the Blow Hole and the Lanai Lookout for several hours, while police investigated.  This was Oahu's 44th traffic fatality for the year.
