Stabbing Suspect in Court For Prelim

The suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at a homeless campsite in Maili last Sunday, had a preliminary hearing in court Friday.  Thirty-nine-year-old Derrick Hernandez remains at Oahu Community Correctional Center unable to post $1 million bail. He's charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of 42-year-old Frankie Feliciano Jr. Court documents indicate Feliciano may have died as a result of a dispute over a beach mat. One witness told police that Hernandez came to the campsite early Sunday morning to pick up his belongings and became angry because Feliciano was sitting on a chair on Hernandez's beach mat. Hernandez then allegedly struck Feliciano on the head, causing him to fall.
