Syphilis Outbreak on Big Island

State health officials are warning about a possible syphilis outbreak on the Big Island.  The Department of Health is investigating five cases of the sexually transmitted disease reported over the past five months.  Most of the cases were reported in men who have sex with men in West Hawaii, but there may be people who are infected and unaware of their illness, who have traveled to other islands.
