Toddler Who Suffered Brain Damage After Dental Visit, Dies

Finley Puleo Boyle, the 3-year-old girl who suffered massive brain damage during a visit to a Kailua dentist last month, died just before 9 p.m. Friday. Finley's parents, Ashley and Evan Boyle filed a lawsuit Monday against Dr. Lilly Geyer, Island Dentistry for Children and unidentified staff members, alleging negligence and dangerous conduct in sedating Finley and failing to prepare for medical emergencies. Dr. Geyer said the child had 10 cavities and needed four root canals. Her mother brought her back December 3, and the girl was sedated by a technician before the dentist arrived.  The Island Dentistry for Children office in a Kailua professional building has been closed since the incident.
